Niger NDC Stalwart Calls for Immediate Resignation of State Chairman Over Incompetent, Alleged Fraud
A prominent chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC in Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Katcha who is also the party’s house of representative aspirant for Bida Katcha Gbako federal constituency has described the NDC as a fraudulent political party in Niger state.
He made this known in a statement personally signed and issued in Minna, calling on the Niger state chairman of NDC, Ahmed Inuwa to immediately resign from his position due to incompetence, lack of integrity, and compromising the due process of the party activities.
Abubakar Katcha also accused of the chairman’s alleged conniving with some national officials of the party to carryout the biddings of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the state, adding that his resignation will pave the way for competent, fearless leadership with integrity, honour, and respect that can pilot the party affairs to greatness.
The party stalwart stated that unless the current state chairman Ahmed Inuwa is removed the party can not win the 2027 elections at all levels in Niger state due to his compromising nature who is allegedly milking the unsuspected aspirants in order to enlist them in the INEC list ahead of the general elections.
The former state commissioner for Science and Technology however, raised concern over allowing the interference of the ruling APC party in the affairs of the NDC in the state through alleged mortgaging the party by the state chairman for selfish interests in order to pave ways for the ruling candidates for the forthcoming general elections success is unacceptable and should be rejected in it entirety.
This is sequel to the need to call for the resignation of the compromised state chairman because the party remains the only formidable opposition political party that can defeat the ruling government in Niger state, saying that the activities of Ahmed Inuwa portrait the NDC in a negative light in the state
According to him, “I Alhaji Abubakar Katcha and my supporters are calling on the state chairman of NDC in Niger state Ahmed Inuwa to as a matter of urgency to resign from his position, if not the party is not going anywhere close to victory during the 2027 general elections in Niger state”.
Abubakar Katcha who resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress APC following the controversial conduct of last party primary elections, said he remains a bonafide and loyal member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC who will strive to ensure the party victory during the 2027 general elections in the state and Nigeria.
He expressed concern over the future of the party following his experience, competence, grassroot acceptability and mobilization as well as massive community support but the party’s ticket for Bida Katcha Gbako federal constituency seat is given to Abdulrahman Awal a blind aspirant from Bida who is being sponsored by some key political players from the ruling APC in the state, described as must unfortunate.
Consequently, the NDC party primary for the Bida, Katcha, Gbako federal constituency was declared inconclusive because the two aspirants could not resolved for a consensus candidature hence the party resolution to give the ticket to Abdulrahman Awal who can not confront the ruling APC incumbent candidate Saidu Musa Abdul (SMA) in polls indicating that the party has derailed from the due process of its party primary elections ahead of 2027 elections in the country.
In another development, the three NDC Chairmen of Bida, Katcha and Gbako Local Government Areas in a letter dated 29th June, 2026 to the national Secretariat of the party titled: “Awareness of the position of principal party men and stakeholders in Bida Katcha Gbako federal constituency in Niger State” after an extensive brainstorm meeting on the viability of the flag bearer ahead of 2027 elections.
According to the letter signed by the three councils party Chairmen Ibrahim Alfa, Abdullahi Abdullahi and Isah Abubakar urged Abdulrahman Awal is physically deformed (eye blindness) which poses serious challenges to attract large pull for the election and should relinquish his candidature for Alhaji Abubakar Katcha to ensure party victory.
Again, the physical disabled nominee comes from grey political zone that does not matchup to the winning chances for the House of Representative seat while Alhaji Abubakar Katcha after in-depth assessment for credibility and competence appears a viable variety with large crowd supporters for the party victory come 2027 general elections. However, endorsed Katcha’s candidature.
The statement equally drown the attention of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC Secretariat especially the national leader of the party Senator Seriake Dickson and the national chairman Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe to look into the heavy allegations raised against the Niger state chairman Ahmed Inuwa for urgent intervention to forestall the negative impacts on the party in the state.
It could be recalled that Abubakar Katcha had paid N2 million for expression of interest, state party support N250,000 and national party support without receipt, nomination form of N4 million to the National Organizing Secretary of the party in to a designated account but refused to give him receipt of the payment was denied INEC nomination form by the NDC National Secretariat while his received expression of interest form was also returned to him after two weeks with the national Secretariat.
