Governor Umaru Bago Receives Itinerary Proposal for Niger State @ 50.

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has been presented with a 5-day itinerary proposal for the celebration of Niger State’s 50th anniversary, titled “50 Years of Legacy: Honoring Our Past, Empowering Our Present, Envisioning a Brighter Future.”
The presentation was made by the Project Manager, Zainab Mohammed, to Governor Bago and other members of the State Executive Council at the Government House in Minna.
She explained that the idea of celebrating the Golden Jubilee Anniversary in 2026 aims to honor the state’s rich history as it marks 50 years of existence.
The Project Manager further elaborated that the event will showcase cultural diversity, highlight the achievements of Niger State, encourage community engagement, promote the state’s resources and tourism potential, and foster unity among its citizens.
According to the proposal, the celebration will include special prayers at places of worship for both Muslims and Christians, a football tournament, a novelty match, a school debate, poetry contests, and scholarship awards for primary and secondary school students.
Additionally, the program will feature a concert, a cultural festival, traditional dances, performances showcasing Niger State’s potential, a book launch, and documentary screenings to celebrate the state’s legacy, along with prestigious awards for outstanding individuals.
In response, Governor Bago commended the Project Manager for her creativity in developing such a comprehensive proposal.
He emphasized the importance of the Golden Jubilee celebration and assured that he would do everything possible to make it a reality. He then directed all relevant ministries—including Tourism, Budget and Planning, Finance, Investment, Justice, Local Government, Sports, Education, and Information—to begin immediate preparations for the event.
