Governor Bago Aims to Address Education Gap in Niger North Senatorial District

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has urged the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education (FUE) Kontagora to take decisive action to address the educational disparities in the Niger North Senatorial District.
During a meeting with members of the Governing Council and the university’s management team at the Government House in Minna, Governor Bago highlighted the significant educational gaps in the region. He suggested that the university consider offering short-term courses to help reduce these inequalities.
Governor Bago expressed his hope that the Federal University of Kontagora would become a model for other educational institutions in the area. He assured the university team of the state government’s continued support and instructed the Chairman of the New Niger Development Project and the Commissioner for Works to collaborate with the university on the construction of a 3 km access road to the institution.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile, praised Governor Bago for his pivotal role in the university’s elevation to federal status. He announced that a lecture theater with a capacity of 1,000 has been named in honor of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, and one of the female hostels has been named after the First Lady of the state, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago.
Prof. Faduyile explained that these dedications recognize the governor’s commitment to improving education, which aligns with the university’s vision. He added that the university has allocated over 15 hectares of land to support the agricultural agenda of the current administration, aimed at enhancing food production in the nation. He also requested fertilizers and other essential farming inputs.
Prof. Faduyile pledged to continue collaborating with the state government to achieve their shared objectives.
