Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law.

Governor Bago performed this statutory duty just hours after the State Assembly passed the budget within a week.
In his remarks, he commended the legislators for their swift scrutiny and approval of the bill, calling it unprecedented. He noted that the leadership of the 10th State Assembly has set a standard for the entire nation.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the collaboration between the executive and legislative branches of government. He urged the legislators to exercise their oversight authority to ensure that the executive adheres to the budget.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, explained that the Assembly began reviewing the budget approximately three months ago. He credited the quick passage to the excellent performance of the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo.
The Speaker praised Ndajiwo for ensuring that all necessary processes were diligently followed, which made the Assembly’s job easier. He stated that the 10th Assembly only needed to carry out the usual procedures while ensuring the prudent allocation of resources within the budget.
He also commended Governor Bago for his wisdom and support of the legislature, assuring him that the 10th State Assembly would work to strengthen its relationship with the executive branch for the realization of the “New Niger.”
Governor Bago had presented the 2025 budget, titled “The Budget of Hope for Food Security and Sustainability,” to the State Assembly on December 12, 2024. The Speaker, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, promised that the legislators would diligently work towards its swift passage.
