FCT Police Successfully Rescue Five Kidnapping Victims and Arrest Suspects in Byazhin
The FCT Police Command has successfully rescued five kidnapping victims following a coordinated joint operation in the Byazhin area of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to a statement by SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police, the operation was a response to recent kidnappings in the Paze community of Byazhin.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, personally led the mission, deploying operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the NPF Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and Kubwa Area Command, with assistance from local hunters and vigilante groups.
The statement reports that, on June 9, 2026, around 9:00 p.m., the security team conducted a comprehensive search-and-rescue operation across the Paze and Byazhin communities.
During the operation, the team engaged suspected kidnappers in a gunfight, resulting in the neutralization of two suspects and the arrest of two others named Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman. Several gang members escaped into nearby hills with gunshot wounds.
The police recovered two AK-47 rifles with magazines. The Command urges healthcare providers and the public to report any individuals with gunshot injuries or seeking treatment under suspicious circumstances.
The pressure on the criminals forced them to abandon five hostages, who were rescued unharmed.
The victims have been taken to a hospital for medical care, and efforts are underway to reunite them with their families. Search operations are ongoing in the area and surrounding communities to apprehend fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network.
The CP commended the bravery, resilience, and professionalism of the operatives and volunteers involved, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to fighting kidnapping and violent crimes in the Federal Capital Territory.
