Dr. Ibrahim Sebutu Bello, is committed to advancement of family medicine in Nigeria, says SOFPON Chairman

The Chairman, Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON), Osun State Chapter, Dr. Babatunde A. Afolabi says Dr Ibrahim Sebutu Bello was committed to the advancement of family medicine in Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement he signed to celebrate Dr Ibrahim Sebutu Bello on his retirement and made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Monday.

He described Dr Sebutu Bello has a visionary leader while describing him as a mentor and a role model,

“As I stand to bid farewell to our beloved Dr. Ibrahim Sebutu Bello from active public service,

“I am filled with gratitude and celebration. As the Chairman of the Osun state chapter of the Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON)”, Dr Afolabi said.

“I have had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Bello Ibrahim Sebutu, and I can attest to his unwavering commitment to the advancement of family medicine in Nigeria,” he added.

He said that Dr Sebutu Bello has demonstrated a deep commitment to the values of family medicine: compassion, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to care.

“Dr. Sebutu Bello’s impact on our society has been profound. He laid the foundation for our growth and success.

“His leadership, vision, and passion have inspired countless family physicians in Osun state and beyond.

According to him, Dr Sebutu Bello has been a mentor, a role model, and a friend to many of us, and his legacy will continue to inspire and motivate us to strive for excellence,” he added

The SOFPON Chairman said that Dr Bello has been a prolific writer and researcher while adding that he has published numerous papers and articles on various aspects of family medicine.

“He has also been a dedicated teacher and mentor, inspiring and guiding countless students and young physicians in their careers.

“Throughout his illustrious career, He has been a tireless advocate for the importance of primary care in our healthcare system, and his efforts have helped to promote the growth and development of family medicine and its practice in Nigeria.

“As a clinician, educator, and leader, Dr. Bello has made significant contributions to the field of family medicine.
While you may be retiring from active public service, we are delighted that you will continue to serve our society, SOFPON,” he said

Dr Afolabi said that Bello’s wealth of experience, wisdom, and passion will continue to be a valuable asset to them.

“And we look forward to your continued contributions. Please accept our warmest wishes for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement from active public service,” he added

Dr Afolabi prayed God to bring him new joy, peace and continued opportunities to share his wisdom and experience with them.

“We are grateful for your service, your leadership, and your friendship. You will be deeply missed at the department and OAUTH

“But your legacy will live on through the countless lives you have touched.

“The many contributions you have made to our society and will still continue to make through SOFPON,” he said.
