Nami begins implementation of campaign promises, inaugurates committees across Niger South

Alhaji Mohammed Nami, former Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Majin Raba Nupe, Kofan Agaie, has commenced the implementation of his campaign promises to the people of Niger South Senatorial District, despite losing the APC senatorial primary.
Nami, who contested the party’s Niger South Senatorial District primary, on Friday inaugurated three-man Project Implementation Committees across the eight Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the district.
The committees, inaugurated through his political platform, Team Nami, are expected to oversee the assessment and implementation of various intervention projects promised during his senatorial campaign.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Conference Room of the IBB University Guest House, Minna, was performed by the Director-General of Team Nami, Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad Enagi, who represented Nami.
Enagi, while inaugurating the committees, charged members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, transparency and the fear of God.
He said the committees had been given clear terms of reference and a two-week deadline within which to submit their implementation and assessment reports.
Enagi said the intervention programme covered education, youth empowerment, water supply, security, sports and electricity, among other areas.
He said under the education component, five students from each LGA would be sponsored through scholarships to Police Secondary School, Nami, while indigenous students studying Medicine, Accounting and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) would also receive sponsorship.
According to him, the youth empowerment component includes sponsorship of 100 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) candidates from each LGA annually for 10 years.
He added that Nami had also pledged to provide 16 motorised boreholes in each of the eight LGAs of the senatorial district.
On security, Enagi said five new motorcycles had already been donated to the Agaie LGA Vigilante Group, while efforts were also underway to implement other components of the intervention programme.
He said Nami had also committed funds toward the construction of a standard badminton court in Agaie and had expended N9.4 million to restore electricity supply to the LGA.
“Alhaji Mohammed Nami has demonstrated that leadership is not only about occupying political office, but about serving the people and fulfilling commitments made to them.
“He lost the purported primary election, but he has refused to lose his commitment to the people,” Enagi said.
He urged members of the committees to ensure that the projects were implemented in line with the stated objectives and that the interests of the people remained paramount.
The eight LGAs covered by the intervention are Bida, Agaie, Lapai, Mokwa, Edati, Gbako, Katcha and Lavun.
The inauguration marks the commencement of the assessment and implementation process, with the committees expected to submit their reports within two weeks.
The initiative has attracted commendation from some constituents, who described it as an indication of Nami’s continued commitment to community development beyond the electoral contest.
