Niger State Corrections Controller Pays Formal Courtesy Visit to Niger State Universal Basic Education Board Chairman
The Corrections Controller for the Nigerian Correctional Service, Niger State Command, CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim, the Executive Chairman of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board and a former Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, at SUBEB headquarters in Minna.
In a press statement signed by CSC Rabiu Mohammed Shuaibu, CPRO, it was stated that the visit was part of the controller’s ongoing efforts to engage with stakeholders, aiming to strengthen collaboration between the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Universal Basic Education Board in areas such as education, skills acquisition, and inmate reform.
During the visit, the Controller praised Dr. Liman for his distinguished service to the nation and his ongoing contributions to basic education in Niger State.
He highlighted the significance of education and vocational training in the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates, in line with the Nigerian Correctional Service Act 2019.
CC Ogunleye proposed a partnership with SUBEB to support adult literacy programs, teacher training for custodial centers, and skills development initiatives for inmates, aimed at helping their successful reintegration into society as law-abiding and productive citizens.
In response, Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim welcomed the Controller to Niger State and praised the Nigerian Correctional Service for its vital role in public safety and human capital development.
He expressed the Board’s readiness to explore collaboration opportunities, particularly in expanding access to basic education and vocational training for inmates.
Both the Executive Chairman and the Controller reaffirmed their commitment to working together to enhance education and inmate rehabilitation efforts in Niger State.
