Official Statement from Adamawa State Stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress

By Yahaya Zakka

We, the undersigned critical stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, representing the three senatorial zones, have convened to address recent concerning developments arising from party congresses.

After thorough deliberations, we unanimously declare that the actions taken by the party leadership at both the state and national levels have dismantled internal democracy, contravened the rule of law, and rendered the party structure in Adamawa State illegitimate.

We observe with grave concern that the congresses led by Ishaya Bauka (Retd) were flawed, manipulated, and imposed against the will of the majority of party members. Disregarding valid court judgments and active injunctions has set a dangerous precedent of lawlessness within the party.

The party leadership engaged in systematic exclusion, imposition, and intimidation of genuine stakeholders and aspirants. As a result, the party has lost moral legitimacy and can no longer serve as a credible platform for democratic participation in Adamawa State.

According to a statement by Convenor Hon. Mijiyewa Umaru Kugama, the following resolutions were adopted in the interest of justice, political survival, and the people of Adamawa State:

1. Total Loss of Confidence

We pass a vote of no confidence in the ADC leadership at both state and national levels for their role in the collapse of internal democracy.

2. Immediate and Collective Resignation

We announce our immediate and irrevocable resignation en masse from ADC in Adamawa State.

3. Rejection of Congress Outcomes

We categorically reject the outcomes of recent congresses and declare them null and void.

4. Mass Political Realignment

We resolve to align immediately with a credible and democratic political platform that upholds fairness, justice, and the rule of law.

5. Leadership Mandate

We unanimously endorse Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani to lead stakeholders in selecting and transitioning into a new viable political platform for effective participation in the 2027 general elections, including the governorship race.

6. Coordinated Defection Structure

A structured and coordinated movement of stakeholders and supporters across polling units, wards, LGAs, and the state will commence promptly to facilitate a seamless transition.

7. Grassroots Mobilization and Reorganization

We will undertake vigorous grassroots mobilization, political education, and structural rebuilding under the new platform to ensure electoral success.

8. Defense of Democratic Principles

We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to democracy, justice, and the rule of law, and pledge to resist any efforts to suppress the people’s will.

By their actions, the ADC has abdicated its role as a democratic institution in Adamawa State. We refuse to participate in a system fueled by injustice, impunity, and illegality. This decision signifies the beginning of a new political era rooted in credibility, inclusiveness, and genuine democratic values.
