Prof Tachi Condemns Shiroro Attack, Commiserates with Niger State Government
The Executive Director, Finance of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Prof. Muhammad Bashar Nuhu Tachi, has strongly condemned the recent bandits’ attack on communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, describing it as tragic, inhumane, and unacceptable.
The affected communities, Erena, Bagna, Yelwa, and others were reportedly attacked yesterday, resulting in the loss of several lives and the destruction of homes, as bandits set houses ablaze and displaced residents.
Prof. Tachi, in a statement issued on Wednesday, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, noting that such acts of violence continue to threaten the peace, unity, and development of communities across the region.
“This senseless attack on innocent citizens is a painful reminder of the security challenges facing our communities. It is unacceptable that lives are cut short and families rendered homeless by the actions of criminal elements,” he said.
He commiserated with the Niger State Government and the people of Shiroro Local Government Area, particularly the families who lost loved ones and property in the unfortunate incident.
The NCDC Executive Director called on security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking down the perpetrators and ensuring that justice is served, stressing the need for proactive measures to prevent further occurrences.
“We must strengthen our collective resolve to end these acts of terror. I urge security agencies to redouble their efforts, while all stakeholders must work together to restore peace and protect vulnerable communities,” Prof. Tachi added.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security operatives by providing credible information that could aid in curbing criminal activities in the area.
Prof. Tachi reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing security, rebuilding affected communities, and promoting sustainable development across the North Central region.
