President of Cameroon Paul Biya prepares son Frank Biya to takeover as new President June

By Yakubu Busari

A  93 years  old Cameroonian President Paul Biya has  appointed his son Franck Biya as Vice President, preparing him to take over as the next President in June ,2026 .

Our correspondent in Cameroon gathered that this was the position that was canceled since 1972  It was widely  reported in Cameroonian local news.

According to our correspondent ,”Daddy preparing to hand over power to his son, as he is nearing his grave jettisoning the constitutional provisions of separate French and English constitutional banner governing the country.

However,Cameroon’s long-serving leader Paul Biya who  appointed his son Franck Emmanuel Biya as Vice President, in a dramatic political shift that is already fuelling debate over succession and democratic governance as Cameroon’s politics now  described the scenario a family business .

The  Cameroonian aggrieved English speaking part raised alarm  that President Paul Biya  son,” Franck Emmanuel Biya”,  received his father’s favoured  as Vice President sacking political condemnation across the globe even though African leaders would want their successors to cover their track records of shady deals while in office.

The exercise was done  following the reintroduction of constitutional amendment by Paul Biya, the Cameroonian head of state to pave way to his  position.

The statement read that Emmanuel’s appointment comes with a troubling seven-year term, raising questions about governance and political succession in Cameroon.

Reports just coming in say the Head of State of Cameroon Mr Paul M Biya has appointed his son, Franck Emmanuel Biya, as the vice President of the Republic.

In an official decree signed 15, April, 2026, he also named him as Head of the Cameroonian Armed Forces and Minister Delegate at Ministry of Defense.

This, observers says effectively place him at the core of Cameroon security structure and with the  last week Constitutional amendment, he would succeed his father if he dies or incapacitated.

As the vice president and Minister of Defense, he has enormous powers thrusted on him. It was earlier rumoured that the post would go to an Anglophone from the English speaking part of the country who have been fighting for the past 10 years to have their own country called Ambazonia Country.

It would be recalled that the French speaking part of the country had their independence January 1st, 1960 when English speaking part was still in Nigeria. It was later granted independence October 1st, 1961

But this was confiscated by Ahidjo and Biya, add that: “Panama Papers reports that he could take over as early as June, 2026

Moreover, there’s a Constitutional clause which says that “If the president of the Republic is French speaking, the vice-president should be English-speakipeopl

But Biya has continuously ignored this provision of the constitution. 86% of Ministerial positions in the country are held by his tribal people.
