Following the heinous attack by armed terrorists in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, which resulted in numerous fatalities, the Plateau Our Heritage Revival Initiative (POHRI) urges the Nigerian Military and security agencies to adopt a more proactive, intelligence-led, and decisive approach in addressing such crimes.
In a statement released and jointly signed by Hon. Alex Kwapnoe, Chairman of POHRI, and Friday Bako, Secretary of POHRI, in Jos, the organization strongly condemns the brutal act. “The senseless killing of defenseless citizens is unacceptable and must not be tolerated with impunity,” the statement read.
POHRI demands immediate arrest and prosecution of all responsible individuals. The group expressed concern about the security lapses that allowed the attack to occur without interception and highlighted the need for enhanced response coordination.
The initiative calls on all security institutions to intensify efforts and develop coordinated strategies to dismantle terrorist networks threatening Plateau and Nigeria.
The recurring attacks across various Local Government Areas underscore the urgent need for a review and strengthening of the current security framework.
While appreciating the Plateau State Governor’s prompt visit to the affected community, POHRI urges the enhancement of Operation Rainbow’s capacity to respond effectively.
The statement concludes with condolences to the families of victims, prayers for the injured, and a call for citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. POHRI affirms its solidarity with Plateau State in pursuit of lasting peace and security.
