Four years after its launch, Newgate University Minna introduced 24 graduate programs

Four years after its establishment, Newgate University in Minna, the first privately owned university in Niger State, has introduced 24 postgraduate programs, supported by 16 visiting professors from Nigeria and abroad.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sadiq Yusuf, shared this information while briefing journalists at the university’s main campus along Bida–Minna Road.
He said the launch followed a successful reaccreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC), which confirmed the university’s capacity in staff and facilities for the new programs.
The programs include Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD), Master’s, and PhD degrees across various disciplines. PGD courses include Management Studies, Computer Science, Public Health, and Health Management. Master’s programs cover Accounting, Business Administration, International Relations, Public Health, and Computer Science, with specializations in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and IT Systems.
PhD programs will be offered in Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting, and International Relations, along with professional doctorates such as Doctor of Business Administration, Doctor of Management, and Doctor of Public Health.
Prof Yusuf noted that the university has experienced rapid growth, with enrollment increasing from 300–400 students in 2022 to over 2,000 students across 14 undergraduate programs.
He also highlighted the university’s academic exchange program, which benefits from visits by professors from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Eastern Europe.
Additionally, the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe, stated that the school will adopt a hybrid learning model, combining in-person lectures with online platforms to meet modern academic needs.
