University Exam Canceled After Leak During Accounting Test at Calabar
An examination in the Department of Accounting at the University of Calabar was abruptly canceled following the discovery of leaked questions and answers. The incident occurred when an examiner allegedly distributed question papers containing both the questions and their correct answers to students.
According to reports, the mistake was noticed at the beginning of the exam when students observed that the answer key was included on the same sheet as the questions. Despite the early detection, students reportedly continued the exam without raising the alarm.
The situation changed sharply about five minutes before the scheduled end of the exam when a female student stood to inform the invigilators of the breach. Witnesses stated that she felt compelled to speak out after initially choosing to remain silent.
Following her disclosure, confusion ensued as invigilators verified the claim and confirmed that the answers had been inadvertently provided alongside the questions. The examiner was immediately notified, and the examination was subsequently canceled.
In response, the department ordered students to cease writing and submit their scripts. Officials announced that a new date would be scheduled for a re-examination.
The incident has ignited discussions among students regarding academic integrity, personal conscience, and collective responsibility in examination settings.
As of now, university authorities have not issued an official statement regarding disciplinary measures or further investigations into the circumstances.
