Plateau State ADC Leader Clarifies No Leadership Crisis Amid Coalition

The former Minister for Sports and Youth Development and Plateau State leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barr. Solomon Selcap Dalung, has clarified that there is no leadership crisis within the party in Plateau State, contrary to speculations since the coalition.
In an exclusive interview at his residence in Sabon Baraki, Jos South LGA, on Monday, Dalung stated that the party is well-prepared for the upcoming national and state elections. He dismissed reports of any leadership crises in the state.
Dalung explained, “We addressed the lingering issues that arose when Hon. Hanatu Gagara served as acting chairman prior to the coalition. The National Working Committee (NWC) established an interim committee to oversee election processes under INEC supervision, and these issues were peacefully resolved.”
He further clarified that the reconciliation committee, comprising ten members, drafted guidelines that facilitated the resolution by urging parties in court to withdraw cases. This process led to Hon. Sam Gyang being confirmed as the state chairman. Subsequently, Gagara was appointed Deputy Woman Leader for the North-Central zone, a position she accepted peacefully.
Dalung noted that during a meeting, Gagara and Gyang embraced, but later Gagara appeared to move to claim the position of state chairperson, a development Dalung said the party is still investigating.
Additionally, he mentioned that the ADC has begun its revalidation and e-registration process in Plateau State, overseen by Nanman Daniel, with membership cards being distributed.
Dalung emphasized that the ADC emerged from a coalition of active citizens committed to addressing maladministration and restoring good governance in Nigeria.
He criticized President Tinubu, alleging that efforts are underway to weaken opposition parties to ensure his dominance in the 2027 elections, describing the move as monarchical.
Dalung concluded by affirming that the ADC remains the only viable platform to salvage Nigeria. However, he warned that if the party fails to field credible candidates, he would work to ensure their defeat.
