Ministry of Works Inspects 556km Road Project in Minna Township

The Niger State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Development has carried out an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing 556-kilometer road project in Minna Township, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure quality implementation and compliance with approved project specifications.

Led by the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Development, Hon. Kabiru Abbas, the inspection team toured various sections of the project to evaluate the pace of work, the quality of materials used, and the overall progress achieved so far.

During the visit, the Commissioner told journalists that the project is a strategic effort aimed at easing traffic congestion and boosting road connectivity within Minna metropolis. He noted that these roads will greatly improve mobility for residents and commuters.

Hon. Kabiru Abbas underscored the importance of contractors strictly adhering to project timelines, warning that unnecessary delays will not be tolerated, given the crucial role of the road network in the economic and social life of the state capital.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to delivering durable, standard, and people-focused infrastructure that aligns with the development goals of the current administration under Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.

According to the Commissioner, the 556 km road project is part of a larger urban renewal plan aimed at transforming Minna into a modern, well-connected city capable of supporting increased commercial activity.

Hon. Kabiru Abbas also assured Minna residents that the government remains fully committed to completing all ongoing major road projects, with sufficient funding in place to ensure continuous progress.

He urged contractors to uphold high workmanship standards and to ensure only approved materials are used, warning that substandard work will face appropriate sanctions.

The Commissioner praised supervising engineers and Ministry officials for their hard work and dedication to effective monitoring, emphasizing that ongoing supervision is essential for delivering value for money and durable infrastructure.

The inspection concluded with a reaffirmation from the Ministry that it will keep conducting regular evaluations of all ongoing projects across the state to guarantee timely completion, quality standards, and maximum benefit for the people of Niger State.
