Kontagora/Mariga/Mashegu/Wushishi Federal Constituency Coalition Confirms Zoning of House Seat to Mashegu for 2027

The coalition representing the people of Kontagora, Mariga, Mashegu, and Wushishi in Niger State has announced its decision to zone the 2027 House of Representatives seat to Mashegu Local Government Area.
This resolution was communicated by Comrade Aliyu Jibrin Matane, the coalition’s secretary, during a recent press conference in Minna.
Comrade Matane emphasized that the move addresses over 25 years of marginalization experienced by Mashegu, advocating for fair representation.
The coalition, composed of youths, women, elders, and key stakeholders, insists that Mashegu, which has been marginalized since 1999, should be granted the seat in 2027.
He also noted that the coalition has advised the current incumbent, Abdullahi Idris, popularly known as Mai-Solar, from Kontagora, to step aside to facilitate proper zoning after serving five consecutive terms.
While commending Mai-Solar’s impactful service and initiatives at the National Assembly, the coalition underscores the importance of inclusivity and equitable political participation.
“We are united and speaking with one voice to uphold the zoning agreement established by our predecessors, which has benefited many, except for Mashegu,” Matane stated.
Furthermore, the coalition has designated Alhaji Mohammed Rabi’u Daja, also known as Dokajin Kontagora, as the sole candidate for the 2027 election, emphasizing principles of peace, fairness, justice, unity, transparency, and political balance in the selection process.
