New Year 2026: Niger State Assembly Speaker Calls for Unity, Peace, and Support for Development Initiatives
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has extended greetings to the people of Niger State as they welcome the New Year 2026, highlighting it as a period of hope, reflection, and renewed commitment to the state’s progress.
In his New Year message, the Speaker urged Nigerlites to continue supporting the policies and programs of the current administration under the New Niger Agenda, with particular emphasis on the Agricultural Transformation Programme championed by the Farmer Governor, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago.
Barr. Sarkin-Daji affirmed that these initiatives are laying a solid foundation for economic growth, food security, and improved livelihoods across the state.
Expressing optimism for the year ahead, he assured that 2026 would be a year of peace, progress, and prosperity for all Nigerlites.
He reiterated the House’s commitment to its legislative responsibilities, vowing to pass laws that benefit the people directly.
The Speaker also emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive working relationship with other branches of government, especially the Executive, to execute meaningful, people-centered programs.
On security matters, the Speaker called on citizens to unite and actively participate in tackling security challenges.
He reassured that the government is doing everything possible to ensure safety and to facilitate the safe resumption of schools in January, underscoring education as a key to sustainable development.

He appealed for unity, cooperation, and prayers to sustain peace and progress within Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.
