Governor Umaru Bago Advocates for Good Governance and Compassion in Nigeria’s Development
Niger State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Bago, has emphasized the importance of good governance, unity, and compassion as key factors for the country’s overall growth and development.
The governor made this statement during the Annual General Meeting of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria, MUSWEN, held in Gbongan, Osun State.
Governor Bago emphasized that promoting Islamic values of sacrifice and sharing prosperity is crucial for bridging the gap between macroeconomic progress and enhancing individual livelihoods.
Represented at the event by the Director-General of the Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs, Mal. Umar Faruk Abdullahi underscored that good governance must be a priority to ensure fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability, which can help rebuild public trust and attract investment for the benefit of citizens.
He also emphasized the importance of empowering young people through targeted social safety nets and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, while reaffirming his administration’s focus on mechanized agriculture to enhance food security and create sustainable employment opportunities.
While praising MUSWEN’s efforts in promoting unity and contributing significantly to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment in the Southwest and beyond, Governor Bago assured that strong collaborative partnerships with his administration will help advance peace, security, and economic growth.
Various Islamic groups, organizations, and leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto and the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, attended the event.
