Governor Umaru Bago Attends Turbaning Ceremony of Niger State Speaker and Dignitaries
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, recently led a delegation to the turbaning ceremony of the Speaker of the State Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, who received the title of Dokajin Borgu. The event took place at the Emir of Borgu’s Palace in New Bussa as part of a week-long celebration marking the 10th anniversary of Emir Dr. Mohammed Sani Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV’s reign.
The ceremony attracted a diverse array of dignitaries, including a federal government delegation led by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security. Other notable attendees included Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, members of the House of Representatives, and various political and traditional leaders such as Alh. Muazu Bawa, the APC National Vice Chairman for North Central, and Alh. Aminu Musa Bobi, the Niger State APC State Chairman.
In addition to Speaker Sarkindaji, several prominent figures from the Borgu Emirate received titles during the ceremony. Notable honorees included retired Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration Ahmed Tijani Mohammed, who was recognized as Ubandawakin Borgu, and Engineer Iliyasu Abdullahi Wara, who was appointed District Head of Lumma.
Governor Bago participated in a special prayer session to promote the ongoing success of the Emir and to foster peace and prosperity within the Kingdom, Niger State, and Nigeria as a whole. Following the ceremony, the Governor commissioned two newly built classroom blocks established by the Emir’s foundation. He commended the Emir’s dedication to the growth and development of the Borgu Emirate.
Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Emir and ensuring effective service delivery to the people of Borgu Kingdom and all residents of Niger State.
