Youths Urge Governor Umaru Bago to Address Insecurity ,Support Flood Victims, Pensioners, and Students in Niger State.

By Our Correspondent

A coalition of young advocates, describing themselves as “unintimidated youths and lovers of justice,” has publicly called on Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State to take immediate and effective actions to address several urgent issues facing residents of the state.

In an open letter written by Senator Isah Mokwa, the group highlighted four critical areas that require the governor’s prompt intervention:

1.Insecurity : The youths expressed serious concerns over ongoing security challenges affecting various areas within the state, stressing the need for the government to prioritize the protection of citizens’ lives and property.

2.Support for Flood Victims in Mokwa: They highlighted the hardships endured by flood victims in Mokwa and urged the government to establish permanent shelters and implement long-term solutions to help families rebuild their lives.

3.Pensioners’ Rights: The letter raised alarm about the plight of pensioners struggling to access their entitled benefits, labeling their situation as unacceptable and calling for swift resolutions.

4.Scholarships for Students: The group pointed out the delays in scholarship disbursement for deserving students, emphasizing that support for education is vital for the state’s future development.

In their communication, the youths criticized the perceived politicization of these urgent issues, alleging that some necessary responses are being postponed until the upcoming 2026 election cycle. They implored Governor Bago to prioritize humanitarian needs over political considerations.

“We are aware of the federal government’s monthly allocations, which provide sufficient resources for any responsible administration to manage emergencies effectively. These funds, along with internally generated revenues and secured loans, should be utilized to alleviate the suffering of Nigerlites,” the letter asserted.

The youths have demanded immediate action and reiterated the governor’s duty to ensure relief for the residents of Niger State.

This appeal coincides with a growing public discourse regarding governance and resource management, highlighting the pressing need for leaders to prioritize critical issues that impact citizens’ everyday lives.
