Nigeria Aims for Sugar Self-Sufficiency to Enhance Food Security.

In a bold initiative towards achieving food security, the Niger State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is taking significant steps to bolster Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in sugar production.
During a recent high-level meeting, Federal Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, and Minister of State for Agriculture, Hon. Sabi Aliyu Abdullahi, joined forces with key stakeholders, including Mr. Sammy Adigun, Chairman of Niger Foods, and the Permanent Secretary, along with prominent directors from the ministry.
Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing agricultural production and reducing the nation’s reliance on sugar imports.
This partnership is seen as a crucial advancement in Nigeria’s broader food sovereignty agenda, positioning sugar production as a vital component for economic growth and sustainability.
Stakeholders are optimistic that this initiative will not only boost local sugar production but also create job opportunities, reinforcing the vision that Niger State will play an essential role in feeding the nation.
