Trump Expresses Concern Over Lost Alliances with India and Russia Amid China’s Rise.
U.S. President Donald Trump has voiced his worries about shifting global alliances, stating that the United States has “lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China.”
He shared this sentiment on his Truth Social platform early Friday, September 5, 2025, accompanied by a photo featuring Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China. May they have a long and prosperous future together,” Trump wrote.
These comments followed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit that took place earlier that week in Tianjin, China.
The SCO, originally established to counter U.S. influence in Central Asia, has gained strategic significance, especially amid ongoing tensions regarding the Russian war in Ukraine and global trade disputes.
Earlier that week, Trump accused China, Russia, and North Korea of conspiring against the United States in light of a military parade in Beijing celebrating 80 years since the end of World War II.
He emphasized the sacrifices made by American soldiers who fought in China, urging that their bravery be remembered while expressing concerns about the current relations between the U.S. and China.
