Governor Umaru Bago Receives Niger State’s Bid for the 24th National Sports Festival
In a significant development, the Niger State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has officially presented Governor Umaru Bago with the bid document for the 24th edition of the National Sports Festival.
The presentation took place during an executive council meeting at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna, led by the Commissioner for Sports, Yahaya Ibrahim Gulbin Boka, and the Permanent Secretary, Nuhu Garba Ngaski.
The Ministry highlighted that Niger State’s bid was recognized as the best among competing states. Additionally, samples of track suits for the Niger State contingents were shown to the Governor for his approval, with the festival scheduled to commence on December 28, 2028.
In a display of local entrepreneurship, the Commissioner for Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, Elizabeth Shaba, presented Governor Bago with locally made, branded snacks known as kuli kuli. She noted that these products were produced by women supported by the State Government and emphasized the existence of a ready market for their sale and export.
Furthermore, Dr. Ibrahim Dangana, the Commissioner for Primary Health, honored Governor Bago by designating him as a Vaccine Ambassador, a recognition by Rotary Club International and the Forum of Spouses of Nigerian Governors.
The Governor also received accolades including the OAN Nigerian Leadership Award as the Icon of Societal Transformation from the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Abdullahi Garba Muhammad, and an Award of Excellence from the Progressives Governors’ Forum, presented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Binta Mamman.
Additionally, Dr. Bello Tukur, the Commissioner for Tertiary Health, awarded the Governor the title of “Nursing Advocate Extra Ordinary” during the Annual Delegates Conference of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives in Niger State.
Lastly, Commissioner for Agriculture, Musa Bawa, presented a plaque to Governor Umaru Bago, representing the Agro-Best reality TV show, which will be hosted in Niger State, involving agric-entrepreneurs from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory over a period of 60 days
