Governor Bago will complete all ongoing projects in the State,Seek Media support – Vatsa.

From  Our Correspondent.

The Special Adviser to Niger State Governor on Communication, Media and Strategy, Hon. Jonathan Tsado Vatsa has given the assurance that all the ongoing projects across the state which were started by the Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago will be completed before the end of the administration.

Vatsa gave the assurance on Monday in Minna, the state capital when he met with the Executive Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger state Council at the state secretariats as part of his Media engagement in the state.

He was recently deployed as Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Private Partnership (PPP) to Communication, Media and Strategy by the Governor.

Vatsa who was a former commissioner for information, culture and tourism under the immediate past administration in the state, said that the current internal roads construction and the ongoing six overhead bridges in the Minna has changed the face of the ancient railway town, stressing that “Minna is beginning to wear a new look and it is now looking more like a state capital than a glorified local government headquarter”.

The former publicity secretary of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state disclosed that currently the government is embarking on 556 numbers of roads, covering over 1,000 kilometers both federal and state roads across the state, saying that “none of these roads projects will be abandoned. They will all be completed before the end of the administration”.

He maintained that with ongoing aggressive infrastructural transformation across the state, “I can tell you that Governor Bago have completely changed the face of Niger State.

“We need the support of the media to tell the whole world about the “New Niger Agenda” and what the Governor is doing in the ongoing Agricultural revolution, transformation in education and the health sector”.

“This is why I’m here to seek for your support in order to promote all its activities. I’ve come so that we can partner” Vatsa stated.

He described the media and Journalism practitioners as lubricants of democracy, pointing out that he enjoyed a robust working relationship with Journalists within and outside the state when he held sway as Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state and Commissioner of Information hence the visit to the State Council of the NUJ to reinvigorate the already established relationship.

He disclosed that he was working assiduously with the Commissioner of Information and Strategy to embark on media tour of all the projects across the State, adding that even though the Ministry of Information was taking charge of the tour, the NUJ would be fully part of the tour.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Abu Nmodu expressed the need for the government to enhance their relationship with journalists in the State saying that they were the primary gatekeepers of the State.

He underscored the importance of adopting strategic communication approach for a sustained image creation as according to him, doing so would go a long way in projecting the policies and programmes of the government.

While expressing the need for adequate investment in media and publicity, Comrade Abu Nmodu urged the government to invest in the state owned media outfits to enable them perform optimally.

He described the Special Adviser as a media friendly personality and therefore assured him of the necessary support to enable him succeed.
