Governor Umaru Bago Affirms Commitment to Advancing Polo in Niger State.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, who also serves as the President of the Minna Polo Club, has pledged ongoing support for the club and the sport of polo within the state.
During a recent meeting with the management team of the Minna Polo Club, led by First Vice President Mohammed Babangida, at the Government House in Minna, he expressed his administration’s dedication to fostering the growth and development of this unique sport.
Governor Bago outlined plans for renovating the existing polo facilities and constructing a new world-class polo club to enhance the overall experience for players and fans alike.
He also took the opportunity to commend the club for its success in recent competitions.
The meeting also served as a moment of remembrance, as Babangida conveyed condolences to the governor following the passing of the club’s Second Vice President, Mr. Daniel Clifford Shashere, and the internationally esteemed polo personality, Alh. Dawule Baba.
Babangida praised Governor Bago for his steadfast support, which has enabled the Minna Polo Club to compete in various national tournaments with notable success.
Additionally, he informed the governor of an upcoming polo tournament scheduled to take place in Minna in July 2025, along with the club’s Annual General Meeting that will follow.
Special prayers were offered in honor of the deceased, and a trophy won by the Minna Polo Club at a recent tournament in Port Harcourt was proudly presented to Governor Bago.
