Governor Bago Celebrates Success of Niger State Pupils in International Debate, Awards them Scholarship

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has officially announced a scholarship program for five exceptional pupils from public schools, who recently represented Nigeria in an International Debate held in Indonesia and emerged victorious.
The announcement was made during a presentation ceremony at the Government House in Minna, where the trophy and the participants were honored for their remarkable achievement.
Governor Bago detailed that the scholarship would cover the pupils’ education from secondary to tertiary levels.
He emphasized that those who excel in their academic endeavors, including opportunities for overseas studies, will receive additional support.
In his remarks, the governor praised the students for their exemplary performance, which brought pride to both the state and the nation. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the education sector to ensure sustainable progress.
Additionally, Governor Bago announced a financial reward of N500,000 to the parents of each participant and N5 million to the officials who guided the students during the debate competition.
The pupils, who participated in two competitive rounds, won all available prizes and secured their position as overall champions.
In a related event, students from the Niger State School for Special Education showcased a trophy won at the National Deaf Secondary Schools Football Championship held in Nasarawa State, where Team Niger secured second place among the participating teams.
Governor Bago congratulated the football team on their achievements and reaffirmed his administration’s ongoing support for educational and sporting initiatives within the state.
