In a significant move to support working mothers, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has approved a six-month maternity leave policy for civil servants.
This initiative, announced during a State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Minna, aims to provide women with the necessary time to care for themselves and their newborns, ultimately enhancing their productivity upon returning to work.
Governor Bago emphasized that this policy is designed to promote maternal and child health, aligning with international best practices. He has instructed the Head of Service, Abubakar Sadiq Idris, to develop a comprehensive plan for the effective implementation of this new policy.
