In a unprecedented display of civic engagement, millions of individuals participated in protests across all 50 states on Saturday, expressing their dissent against President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
This movement, rooted in a pro-democracy ethos, sought to challenge what organizers described as a “hostile takeover” that threatens fundamental American rights and freedoms.
According to reports from CNN, over 1,400 “Hands Off!” rallies were convened at various public spaces, including state capitols, federal buildings, congressional offices, and city halls.
Organizers emphasized their commitment to ensuring that their voices are heard, stating, “We can make sure they hear us.”
The “Hands Off!” campaign articulates several key demands: an end to the perceived encroachment of billionaire influence in politics, a halt to cuts in federal funding for essential programs like Medicaid and Social Security, and a cessation of attacks on marginalized communities, including immigrants and LGBTQ+ individuals.
The event’s literature underscores a collective refusal to accept the status quo, inviting all those affected by these issues to join the movement.
With nearly 600,000 individuals signing up for various events, the protests extended beyond U.S. borders, with gatherings also occurring in major international cities such as London and Paris.
This grassroots campaign is supported by a coalition of civil rights organizations, veterans’ groups, women’s rights advocates, labor unions, and LGBTQ+ activists, united in their call for a more equitable society.
