Kano State Film and Censorship Board Closes Zoo Playground Following Indecent Dance Incident.

In a decisive action, the Kano State Film and Censorship Board has shut down a playground at the Kano Zoo due to allegations of indecent dance performances during the Sallah celebrations.
This closure came after a thorough inspection by a monitoring committee established by the board’s chairman, Abba El-Mustapha, and spearheaded by the Director of Culture, Abubakar Zakari Garun Babba.
The committee was specifically tasked with overseeing entertainment venues to ensure adherence to cultural norms during the festive period.
Reports indicate that the incident involved a man and a woman whose dance was deemed a violation of public decency and contrary to traditional Hausa values.
The Hisbah Board initially alerted the Film Censorship Board about the situation, following complaints from their undercover officers stationed within the Zoo to observe and maintain order.
Following the validation of these reports, the board confiscated the equipment used in the playground. The woman involved in the performance has been taken into custody by Hisbah officers, while the male participant remains at large.
The board expressed gratitude to the Hisbah officers, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) for their ongoing commitment to preserving community standards and decency across the state.
