Niger State House of Assembly Enacts Law to Establish Rail-Line Corporation
The Niger State House of Assembly has officially enacted a private member bill establishing the Niger State Rail-Line Corporation.
This significant decision emerged following the presentation of a report by the Joint Committees on Transport and Judiciary and Legal Matters, chaired by Hon. Ahmed Mohammed (Edati).
The report underscored the bill’s objectives, which include offering an alternative and more economical means of transporting goods and services.
This initiative is in line with the New Niger Agenda of the current administration, with the aim of alleviating the pressure on road transportation.
The Assembly unanimously endorsed the bill’s recommendations and subsequently passed it into law.
During the plenary session, Deputy Speaker Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda praised the joint committees for their diligence and instructed the Clerk of the House to forward the law to the Executive for assent.
In a separate matter, the House also passed a private member bill amending the Niger State College of Education Law of 2011. This amendment aims to rename the institution to Dr. Umar Sanda Ahmadu College of Education, Minna.
