Shuaibu Awaisu Named Niger State Director of IHRC
The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has announced the appointment of Shuaibu Awaisu Wana, a human rights defender and public affairs analyst, as its new Director for Niger State.
In an appointment letter signed by Dr. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure, Director/Ambassador of IHRC Africa Region HQ, it was stated that the new state director is expected to accelerate IHRC activities across both international and African regions.
His focus will be on addressing conflicts, advancing human rights education, promoting gender equality, mitigating climate change, and engaging youths in the promotion and protection of human rights.
The appointment of Shuaibu Awaisu as the pioneer State Director is expected to work in collaboration with relevant government and security agencies and to further consolidate the impact of IHRC in the state, as he brings years of experience that have significantly contributed to the organization’s growth and influence in Niger State.
Prior to this appointment, Awaisu has been an active member of several voluntary organizations, serving in various capacities. He holds a Master’s degree in Social Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with a major in International Studies and Conflict Resolution.
The letter further noted that his appointment was earned based on his respectful, collegial, and developmental disposition.
IHRC is an influential voluntary organization recognized for its significant role in global security, peacebuilding, human rights, economic development, and diplomatic and humanitarian activities. IHRC pioneered the creation of the world’s first private diplomatic intergovernmental and transnational organization, known as Transnational Intergovernmental Organization (TIO).
The organization operates on the basis of international conventions, including the Vienna Conventions of 1961, 1975 and 1986, and has obtained the status of a transnational intergovernmental organization through diplomatic agreements signed with governments represented by their Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
