Niger Chapter of the National Association of Elected Local Government Council Chairmen Passes Vote of Confidence in Governor Bago.

By Yahaya Zakka, Minna

The Niger State Chapter of the National Association of Former Elected Local Government Council Chairmen of Nigeria has expressed a vote of confidence in Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

This decision was made during a meeting held at the Hauwa Wali Multipurpose Hall in the Government House, Minna, where members were led by their leader, Ambassador Ahmed Musa Ibeto, a former Deputy Governor of Niger State.

Ambassador Ibeto stated that the vote of confidence reflects the majority opinion of the grassroots community, acknowledging the governor’s diligent efforts in transforming and developing the state under the New Niger Agenda.

He highlighted that the Association unites past elected local government council chairmen, regardless of their political affiliations.

The Association aims to bring together grassroots leaders as one family, provide humanitarian services at the local level, and serve as a pressure group for the welfare of their members.

Ibeto appealed to Governor Bago to enhance the payment of their benefits, consider them for appointments, and ensure that past vice chairmen receive their allowances.

In response, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed his pleasure at the formation of the Association, calling it timely.

He lamented the absence of a long-term development plan for the state, which has resulted in haphazard building and poor infrastructure.

The governor emphasized that his administration is working on establishing short, medium, and long-term plans to facilitate rapid development in Niger State, urging everyone to contribute to this effort.

Additionally, he encouraged members of the Association to participate in his administration’s food security initiative to combat poverty.

Acknowledging the contributions of the Association’s members to the state, Governor Bago affirmed that they deserve recognition.

He thanked the Association for their vote of confidence, stating that it would motivate him to do even more.

He also suggested that similar meetings should occur more frequently to promote the state’s development.
