In a move to tackle pressing challenges in Shiroro Local Government, Senator Representing Niger East Senatorial District Mohammed Sani Musa has empowered 55 youths from the Lakpma Youth Forum during the graduation ceremony of an intensive two-week skills acquisition program.
The training, valued at ₦15 million, focused on equipping participants with expertise in borehole repairs, machine tools handling, water sanitation, hygiene practices, and business development.
The initiative specifically aimed to address the persistent lack of clean drinking water in the Lakpma community caused by broken boreholes and insecurity.
Held at the TVS Hall in Gwada, the program’s graduation ceremony marked a turning point for the participants, who received start-up kits to apply their skills and foster economic independence.
The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Lakpma Youth Forum—which represents youths across eight political wards—was lauded as a vital step in community empowerment and development.
In his address during the event, Senator Sani Musa who was represented by Honourable Suleiman Ibrahim Kato, emphasized the importance of youth empowerment as a tool for sustainable development.
He noted that the training would not only alleviate the water crisis but also create a pool of skilled individuals capable of maintaining essential infrastructure in their communities.
“This program is part of our commitment to equip young people with the tools they need to thrive while addressing critical issues affecting their communities. I am confident that the skills acquired here will have a lasting impact on your lives and on the future of Shiroro Local Government,” Senator Musa said.
The President of Lakpma Youth Forum Comrade Zahradeen Babangida Kudodo and the Participants expressed gratitude for the senator’s intervention, describing the training as life-changing.
Community members also applauded his dedication to addressing key challenges, highlighting his track record in education, infrastructure, and agricultural development across Niger State.
