The Niger State govt. pledged support to the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority to help achieve its objectives.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, known as the “farmer Governor,” made this commitment during a visit from the Authority’s Chairman, Alh. Haruna Usman Dan Gajere, and other officials at the State liaison office in Abuja.
Governor Bago expressed the State’s desire to collaborate with the Authority, highlighting significant investments in agro-mechanization and irrigation, with more projects planned, particularly in water transportation from Shiroro Dam to Minna. He congratulated the newly appointed officials and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing their capabilities.
In response, the Managing Director of the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, Shuaibu Bawa Jaja, conveyed their visit’s purpose: to express condolences to the Niger State government and its citizens following a recent explosion that resulted in many casualties, and to establish a relationship with the State government.
He noted that the Authority’s members had been appointed by the President just weeks earlier and expressed their commitment and enthusiasm to support the agricultural transformation agenda of the current administration in Niger, Kaduna, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, which fall under the Agency’s jurisdiction.
The Managing Director acknowledged the farmer Governor’s dedication to agricultural transformation, describing it as both exciting and encouraging. He expressed confidence in the State’s ability to feed the nation and assured that the Agency would work closely and diligently in areas such as agriculture, dam construction, and maintenance within the catchment areas, aiming for significant impacts and benefits for the people.
