Niger State Pension Board Announces Call Center for Retirees

By Yahaya Zakka Minna.

The Niger State Pension Board has announced plans to establish a dedicated call center, aimed at providing retirees with an accessible platform to voice their concerns and complaints.

This initiative was unveiled by the Director General of the board, Malam Nasir Saidu Namaska, during the flag-off ceremony for the tenth batch of cheque disbursements to beneficiaries at the board’s premises in Minna.

During his address, Namaska emphasized that once operational, retirees will be able to call a designated number to have their issues addressed within a specified timeframe.

This development is in response to the challenges faced by retirees, particularly those traveling from distant locations or dealing with health issues.

He highlighted that the farmer Governor, Muhammed Umaru Bago, recognized these difficulties and directed the management of the Pension Board to implement a call center to alleviate some of the burdens associated with in-person visits.

Namaska also took the opportunity to urge retirees to participate actively in the “Am Alive” verification exercise.

He stressed the importance of this process, reassuring retirees that failure to complete the verification could result in non-payment of their monthly pensions.

The verification aims to confirm that retirees are still eligible to receive their pensions over the next six months.

Additionally, he noted that arrangements have been made for those unable to attend due to illness or those residing abroad, in collaboration with the Nigerian Union of Pensioners.

Namaska commended the farmer Governor Umaru Bago for the timely release of funds designated for the settlement of retirees’ gratuities and reiterated the principle of “first come, first served” for payment processing.
