Why I Visited Babangida in Minna — Peter Obi
Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has explained that his visit to former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida was aimed at seeking his invaluable advice and wisdom.
In a post on his X account on Thursday, the former governor of Anambra State shared details of the meeting, stating that visiting the elder statesman at his residence in Minna, Niger State, provided him with an opportunity to discuss national issues with Babangida.
Describing Babangida as a father figure, Obi also took the occasion to wish him a happy New Year. He captioned a photo taken with the former military leader, saying, “From Jigawa State, I traveled to Minna, Niger State, to pay a visit to a father figure, elder statesman, and leader, the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his residence.
The visit was an opportunity to wish him a happy New Year and exchange thoughts on national concerns. General Babangida’s wisdom and insights remain invaluable, and I always appreciate the chance to visit him and learn from his perspectives. A new Nigeria is possible.”
