Remi Tinubu disburse N50m to 250 senior citizens
Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, has distributed N50 million to 250 elderly people in Niger State.
She said the gesture is part of the launch of the 2nd edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS) across the country.
Sen. Oluremi Tinubu was represented at the event which took place at Women Multipurpose Hall in Minna by Hajiya Fatima Bago, Wife of Niger state Governor and who was also represented by Mrs Mary Noel-Berje, Special Adviser on Women Affirmative.
She explained that the scheme is designed to support the welfare of elderly citizens annually, will benefit 250 elderly citizens aged 65 and above in each of the 36 states of the federation.
The Wife of the President also said that veterans from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) will also benefit from the scheme.
According to Sen. Tinubu, the Governing Board of the renewed hope initiative has increased the grant from N100,000 to N200,000 for the year to provide further support to elderly citizens during the festive season.
A total of N1.9 billion will be disbursed across the country.
Sen. Tinubu commended the state first ladies, RHI state coordinators, and partners for their efforts in making the programme a reality.
She also congratulated the senior citizens selected as beneficiaries and urged them to prioritise their health during the festive season.
Bako Bawa, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the wife of the president and the governor’s wife for the gesture. He prayed for the success of the present administration and their re-election in 2027.
The Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme is a clear demonstration of the present administration’s commitment to the welfare of elderly citizens.
