Niger state Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago congratulates the new National Executives of the NUJ.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has extended his congratulations to the newly elected National Executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago commended the smooth and transparent process that led to the election of the new national officials, which was chaired by Comrade Alhasan Yahaya. He urged the Yahaya-led NUJ to promote genuine professionalism among journalists and to uphold national values.
The governor also congratulated the Niger State Council of the NUJ for successfully electing a national officer after a lengthy period.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a free press and emphasized the significance of fostering a cordial relationship between the government and the press to encourage peace, development, and the achievement of the New Niger Development agenda.
Among the newly elected NUJ National Executives are Alhasan Yahaya, who previously served as the Deputy National President and as Chairman of the Gombe State Council, now taking on the role of National Chairman.
Other notable members include Abimbola Oyetunde from the Edo State Council, the first female Deputy National President; Adeiza Momoh Jimoh, the Vice President for North Central (Zone D); and Dauda Mohammed from NTA Minna, who serves as the Secretary for North Central (Zone D).
