NGO Unveils Bold 5-Year Plan to Empower Women Entrepreneurs in Nigeria

The Women Enterprise Alliance (WenA), a trailblazer in women’s economic empowerment, has launched an ambitious 5-year strategic plan to strengthen women entrepreneurs in Nigeria and beyond. In her powerful keynote address, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Matthews, Managing Director and CEO of WenA, asserted the vital importance of empowering women entrepreneurs as a driver of economic growth and development.

“As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we are unwavering in our commitment to create a robust ecosystem that fosters growth, ignites creativity, and accelerates economic empowerment,” declared Matthews.

The founder of WenA, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim Babangida, reinforced this message, emphasizing that collective action is essential to achieving substantial economic progress.

“We are serious about this mission. We are committed to building a dynamic ecosystem that nurtures growth, fosters innovation, and advances economic empowerment,” Babangida proclaimed.

Under its strategic plan, WenA will deliver comprehensive mentorship and targeted training programs for women entrepreneurs, focused on empowering them to thrive and sustain their businesses.

The organization has set a bold goal to mentor and train 5,000 women entrepreneurs over the next five years, connecting them with experienced professionals and industry leaders who can provide essential guidance and support.

WenA’s capacity-building initiatives will equip women entrepreneurs with the critical skills and knowledge necessary for business success.

The organization will offer intensive training and development programs in key areas such as business management, marketing, finance, and technology.

Additionally, WenA will provide essential resources and tools, including business planning templates, market research reports, and financial management software.

The objective is clear: to empower 1,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) annually, with a strong emphasis on women-led businesses.

“WenA is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive range of support services, including mentorship, training, and access to finance, markets, and networks,” Matthews stated emphatically.

Furthermore, the organization will pursue crucial policy reforms to bolster the growth and development of SMEs, particularly those led by women.

In her remarks, Mrs. Florence Onwumere, Programs Director at WenA, reiterated the critical need to empower women entrepreneurs as a cornerstone of economic progress.

“WenA is resolute in its commitment to empower women entrepreneurs and to create a more inclusive and equitable entrepreneurial ecosystem,” Onwumere asserted.

The launch of this bold 5-year strategic plan marks a transformative era for women entrepreneurs in Nigeria and beyond.

WenA also unveiled the We Mean Business Coalition, an initiative focused on empowering SMEs across Nigeria.

This coalition, powered by WenA, is designed to tackle the most pressing challenges faced by local entrepreneurs and to forge a future where Nigerian entrepreneurs can thrive both locally and on the global stage.
