Niger Government to Foster Livestock Investment with 1.2 Million Hectares of Land
The Niger State Government is taking proactive steps to foster livestock investment by allocating 1.2 million hectares of land.
This initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s recent achievement in securing a $2.5 billion investment agreement with JBS, a prominent Brazilian multinational and a leader in meat processing globally.
This partnership is poised to significantly enhance Nigeria’s livestock industry and meat processing capabilities. Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, a member of the Nigerian Government delegation present during the signing of the letter of intent with JBS in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, emphasized Niger State’s commitment to fully support the initiatives put forth by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
As the designated pilot location for this transformative project, Governor Bago envisions a remarkable economic impact, including the creation of one million jobs, the establishment of 100,000 new homes in farm estates, and the development of 100 agricultural facilities.
He highlighted the importance of the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, which traverses 125 kilometers of Niger State, as an essential infrastructure element that will support this agricultural advancement.
During the agreement signing, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu acknowledged the Niger State Government’s dedication as a vital contributor to the path toward prosperity.
He expressed his commitment to collaborating closely with Governor Bago’s administration to ensure the project’s success, which aims to strengthen food security and create substantial opportunities for Nigerian citizens.
