Niger State cooperative federation lauds governor Bago’s agricultural achievements
The Niger State Cooperative Federation (NISCOFED) has commended Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago for his outstanding achievements in transforming the state’s agricultural landscape.
This is contained in a press statement signed by Comrade Labaran Garba, NISCOFED’s President, where he praised Governor Bago’s visionary leadership, which has fostered food security and socio-economic prosperity.
Comrade Labaran Garba noted that under governor Bago’s administration, Niger State has become a flagship for agri-business projects, focusing on crops like rice, maize, cassava, and cotton.
He said his ambitious plan to cultivate 250,000 hectares of land in the first year alone demonstrates his commitment to agriculture.
“This initiative has spurred economic growth and reduced insecurity by providing employment opportunities,” he said.
NISCOFED President added that governor Bago’s efforts to improve infrastructure, including the clearance of the Lambata-Maje-Dikko road, showcase his dedication to facilitating economic growth and enhancing residents’ quality of life.
He said the cooperative movement in Niger State faces challenges, but collaboration between the government and cooperatives can overcome these.
According to him, by working together, they can enhance revenue generation and promote sustainable development.
He said Governor Bago’s willingness to partner with organizations like the World Food Programme to boost agricultural investments is commendable.
Comrade Labaran Garba urged cooperators to see the current economic climate as an opportunity to find solutions to pressing needs.
He emphasized that this year’s International Cooperative Day theme, “Cooperatives Build a Better Society for All,” reflects the federation’s objectives.
“We look forward to continued collaboration and support to strengthen the cooperative movement and propel Niger State’s growth.
He congratulated Governor Bago’s nomination as the Most Outstanding Governor of the Year by the Cooperative Rating and Award Society of Nigeria (CRASON) coming up at 6th Edition of the Nigeria National Cooperative Award Ceremony in November 2014 at Abuja, saying it is a testament to his exceptional leadership.
