Governor Umar Bago assured every retiree would get his gratuity, insist on batch numbers -DG Namaska.
Farmer Governor,Mohammed Umar Bago has re-assured retirees that payment of gratuity would not stop until every pensioner in the state is captured and paid.
The Director General, Niger state Pension Board, Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska disclosed this during the flag-off of the third batch of the issuance of cheque to beneficiaries.
He said Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar Bago have directed him to continue with the payment exercise till every retiree is captured, “I assure you that the exercise will not stop till every pensioner in the state is captured”.
According to Namaska they will continue to pay Gratuity based on batches,he said they have finished compilation of names for the fourth batch and so on.
He stated that as soon as they finish the fourth batch they will move to the next batch which is the fifth batch until every retiree received his cheque,adding that Governor Umar Bago have given them matching order and they will not let him down.
Alhaji Namaska disclosed further that digitalization of pension board has made their work easier and it have been very simple for then to know the accurate number of pensioners their monthly pension and also their gratuity.
He said “We don’t want a situation whereby we will pay monthly pension or gratuity to a wrong person, “I’m assuring you that am 100% confident of the list I generated for this payment of gratuity” he assured”.
He further mentioned that the Board has a database of pensioners and it is easy to detect genuine pensioner and what is acruable to each person.
He said with the database pensioners can now collect their statement of account and pay slip as done in the banks, they can also come to the pension board to access their gratuity and would be generated and given to them for record purposes.
He further disclosed that the board have been receiving complaints on the payment of gratuity, issue bordering under payment, according to him there is need he make it clear here that there was a reversion, that is when civil servants were reverted from the new pension scheme to the old pension scheme,so, what we compute here for payment is what they supposed to get and no Pensioner is being short paid in this exercise, he added
