NUT Organises Special Prayers for Allah’s intervention on teachers welfare, NLC warming up for Strike action.

Nigeria Union of Teachers, Niger State Council says it will continue to discuss with state government to ensure better working condition of Primary and Secondary school teachers in the state.
The state NUT Chairman, Comrade Mohammed Adamu Akayago stated this in an interview with Journalists shortly after a special prayer session organised by the Union at Teacher House Tungan Goro Minna.
Comrade Adamu Akayago decried the level of neglect shown to teachers by the Present administration of Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, stressing that teaches are the least paid among civil Servants in the state.
He said the special prayer session was organised for Allah to intervene,change the mind set of leaders to have a rethink on the welfare of teachers and better their working conditions.
He said prayer is the only solution for every problem,hence the need for teachers and the union executive to pray Vehemently for almighty Allah intervention.
Some of the problems that nessecitates the prayer is for the unemployed youths, payment of gratuity of retirees , prayer for kidnap victims to regain their freedom and prayer for all internally displaced persons in the state and across the country to go back their various communities to continue their livelihood.
The State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Abdulkareem Lafene who attended the prayer session described the special prayer as a welcome development and timely.
Comrade Abdulkareem Lafene described the present administration as anti-workers, assuring that Labour Union will continue to dialogue with the government towards actualising its demand or embark on indefinite strike.
He disclosed that government have turned deaf ears to their demands, adding that out of (15) fifteen demands of the Union presented to the Government only one was met, hence the Union have no option than to go on indefinite strike.
Comrade Abdulkareem disclosed that if by next week government refuses to comply to the remaining fourteen demands made by the Union,, immediately after the NEC meeting workers in State would embarked on indefinite strike.
He said the state government have already breached the fourteen days Ultimatum giving by the Union, so the only alternative option is for workers to embarked on indefinite strike action, he added.
