Niger North Youth coalition tackles Gov. Bago over marginlisation of appointment.
The Coalition of Niger North Youth Forums, had bereted Gov. Umaru Bago of appointing only people from Zones A and B into key positions and neglecting Zone C that gave him massive votes that brought him to power.
President of the Coalition, Sahabi Auna, said this during a press/extraordinary meeting of the National Executive Council Members of the coalition in Minna.
He alleged that Zone C was marginalised by the present administration both at state and Federal levels inspite of the tremendous support its gave to the present administration.
“We remind the governments of tremendous support our dear zone gave in the installment of the government of APC in Nigeria the record is fresh not far from our minds.
“Zone C gave a bulk of votes against the A and B zones, in fact the duo zones outrightly voted against APC in 2023 elections.
“We presumed our alligience will be escorted with resounding applause but nay rather,” he said.
He said that political appointment and zoning arrangements as well as statutory representation should be given usual consideration in the state.
He added that key decision-making roles such as the governor, deputy, SSG, Chief of Staff, deputy chief of staff, head of service and agencies like NSUBEB, SDG and civil service commission were all from zones A and B.
He called on the governor to address inequalities and inclusiveness and ensure that all zones were given equal opportunities and representation.
Auna disclosed that aside marginalisation, the zone was being terrified by pathetic insurgency series of massacre of lives and destruction of property.
Reacting, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Bologi Ibrahim, said appointments by the present administration was balanced as there were more commissioners and special advisers and directors generals from zone C.
He said that it was not true that the zone has been marginalised as there were more appointments in the zone, adding that appointment was still ongoing and it was too early to say that the zone is being marginlised.
