NEMA launches operation eagle eye for safe driving during yuletide
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), had launched operation eagle eye aimed at reducing accidents during yuletide.
Hajiya Zainab Sai’du, Head, NEMA Minna Operations Office, said the exercise was to make yuletide accident free for all Nigerians.
She said the programme was a disaster-reduction management measure put in place by NEMA to carry out surveillance on major highways to reduce incidences of road crashes.
She added that the exercise was aimed at sensitising motorists and the general public on causes of road traffic crashes to prevent, mitigate and respond to them anytime they occur inline with international best practices.
According to her, the ‘Eagle Eye’ exercise is a yearly event usually conducted during festive periods which are always characterised with mass vehicular movements.
“The event is also to compliment the effort of other response agencies especially the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC),” she said.
