Use your talents for nation building, Bago urges corps members.
Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger has urged corps members to channel their talents and energy toward discovering new ways of building the country.
Bago stated this during the swearing-in of 2023 Batch C, Stream II corps members posted to the state, at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Paiko.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Yahaya Gulbin-Boka, expressed optimism that the corps members would lift the country to enviable heights.
“As corps members, you are automatically agents of change. It is my ardent hope that you will lift the country to enviable heights,” he said.
According to him, to achieve the giant strides, corps members must prepare adequately from the orientation camp by being disciplined and obeying constituted authorities.
He also advised them to participate in all the camp activities, especially the Skills Acquisition and Enterpreneuership Development (SAED) training and be security conscious at all times.
Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, enjoined the corps members to acquaint themselves with the provisions of NYSC Acts and bye-laws.
She advised them to avail themselves of SAED training and choose from any skill area in order to become self-reliant and self-sufficient, as white-collar jobs were not readily available. (NAN)
