Election Petition Tribunal in Minna to deliver Judgement on SAN Isyaku PDP and SEN. Sani 313 of APC on Wednesday.
The National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Minna Niger State is set to deliver Judgement on the petition filed by Barrister Ibrahim Isyaku a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) of the People Democratic party (PDP), against Senator Mohammed Sani Musa of the All Progressive Congress (APC) tomorrow Wednesday, the 6th of September 2023.
The Secretary of the Tribunal in the state Barrister Usman Mohammed Jankoli disclosed this to eagle eye in an interview in Minna.
He said the panel two of the three members tribunal headed by Justice Godspower Anugwa will also deliver Judgement on the petition filed by Abdullahi Usman Gbatamagi the Chief of staff to the governor of Niger of the All Progressive Congress (APC), against Joshua Audu Gana of the People Democratic party (PDP).
Barrister Ibrahim Isyaku SAN is challenging the election of Senator Mohammed Sani Musa who contested the February 25 2023,National Assembly Election to represent Niger East Senatorial district on the alledgetions of over votings and some irregularities at some polling units in most the Senatorial Constituency.
The senior advocate approached the Tribunal praying the Tribunal to declare him the lawful and rightful winner of the election as he scored the majority of the vote cast at the election arguing that the election did not comply with the provision of the electoral act.
He further prayed the Tribunal to upturn the victory of Senator Mohammed Sani Musa and return him the rightful winner of the February 25 National Assembly Election as he scored the majority of the total vote in most of the polling units.
Barrister Stephen Usman Adehi SAN the defense counsel to Senator Mohammed Sani Musa had told the tribunal in his final written address to dismiss the petition of the petitioner as ” the petition lack merit and substance as the evidences and exhibits tendered before the tribunal are all inconsequential”
While Abdullahi Usman Gbatamagi the Chief of staff to the governor of Niger State,was challenging the election of Joshua Audu Gana of the PDP electted to represent Edati, Lavun and Mokwa federal constituency praying the Tribunal to declare him the lawful and rightful winner of the conduct of the February 25 National Assembly Election and upturn the Election of the responded.
Usman Gbatamagi alledged that the election was marred with series and Unprecedented malpractices arguing that the responded did not winn the majority of the vote cast at the election.
He argued further that the responded failed to score the lawful votes at most of the polling units across the three Federal Constituency of Edati Lavun and Mokwa praying the tribunal to return him as the rightful winner of the February 25 National Assembly Election.
