Boat mishap: PEDU, Waziri condole Kwara Gov, Etsu Patigi, over death of over 100 victims
The Patigi Emirate Development Union (PEDU) has commiserate with the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, and the families of victims over the unfortunate incidence of boat mishap that claimed over 100 lives in Patigi Local Government.
The tragic incident occured on Monday June, 12, 2023, when the boat the victims, who were wedding guests, were traveling in capsized along the Niger river.
The union, in a statement by its National President, Salihu Umar Bologi, prayed Allah to grant all the departed souls Aljanat Firdausi, give His Royal Highness, Etsu Patigi, families of the departed soul the fortitude to bear the tragic lost.
“PEDU further call on the authorities, particularly, Kwara State House of Assembly to put in measures and laws that will forestall reoccurrence of this tragic mishap,” the statement said.
Also, the Waziri of Patigi, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Sadiq Ndalolo, has condoled Etsu Patigi and the entire people of the emirate over the tragic incident.
Ndalolo in a condolence letter to the Etsu, described the incident as ” devastating’.
“The loss of so many lives in such a tragic event is a profound tragedy that words alone cannot adequately express,” the condolence letter read.
“Each life lost represents a cherished individual, a beloved family member, and a vital part of the Patigi communities. May Allah grant all the departed Aljannatul Firdaus. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families affected, as they navigate through the immense grief and sorrow caused by this unimaginable loss.
“In the face of this heartbreaking incident, it is important for us to come together as a community, to offer solace and support to one another. The strength of Patigi lies not only in its beautiful landscapes and rich culture but also in the unity and resilience of its people. During this challenging time, may the community find solace in each other’s company, drawing strength from the shared bonds that have defined Patigi for generations.
“Your Highness, I stand with you in this time of sorrow and offer my support in any way that I can. Together, we should work towards healing the wounds caused by this tragedy and strive to prevent such unfortunate incidents from occurring in the future. I am currently making arrangement for the procurement of life jackets to be used by boat operators in our communities.
Once again May Allah forgive the departed and may their memories forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them. May the Patigi community find strength, comfort, and resilience in the face of this tragedy, and may brighter days lie ahead for the people of Patigi.”
