NIGER STAE GOVERNMENT TO DIGITALIZE WATER SUPPLIES SYSTEM

Niger State Government has commences the digitalization of it Water supply system to conformity with the cashless policy of the central Bank.
The permanent secretary, Water resources, Hussaini Ahmed, during a test of payment system by inter-switch platform,said digitalization of water supply system in the state is to compliment the cashless policy introduce by the federal government and to ease the suffering of the residents in accessing Naira notes to pay their water rate.
The Perm Sec stated that the installation of digital meters and deployment of point of sale POS at water supplies point would enhance accountability, sustainability and efficiency in the system.
Hussaini Ahmed stressed that the engagement of inter-switch payment system platform will boost water supply and also increase the revenue base of the State.
Also speaking at the demonstration exercise, the Managing Director of Niger State Water & Sewage Corporation NISWASEC, Hassan Chado, said the deployment of point of sale POS and installation of digital meters will go a long way in addressing leakages and revenue loss.
The State Director of Water Quality and Control, Alhassan speaking at the occasion pointed out that the platforms will be implemented across the seven local government area water works in the state.
He then Commends the state government for carrying out the digitalization of Water sector in the State.
